Pedro struck twice in Flamengo’s win over Fluminense at the Maracanã, moving clear as the club’s top scorer this century on 163 and rising to sixth on the all-time list.

One finish came off his chest from a Samuel Lino delivery, a move he had discussed with assistant José Barros after a drill earlier this month. Barros had seen the routine in training, and it was Pedro’s seventh chest goal for the club. According to Globo.com, he then sought out Barros to share the moment.

His form reflects the work since Leonardo Jardim arrived, the Portuguese focusing on mindset and handing him defensive and attacking duties. Jardim said he is concentrating on the present, is satisfied with Pedro’s attitude and finishing, and that the team can switch to transition with Wallace Yan and Bruno Henrique when needed.

Pedro has five goals and one assist in his past nine games, starting eight, and he came on after the break against Cusco. He is the most used player and the leading contributor to goals under the new staff. Now in his seventh season, he has 11 goals in 2026, with 35 in 61 his best return in 2023.

The upturn has turned thoughts to the Brazil squad for this year’s World Cup, with the final list due on 18 May. Pedro says selection crosses his mind but his focus remains on Flamengo, and he will keep believing if the goals continue.
