Pedro has thanked his Lazio teammates and technical staff as he prepares to hang up his boots and return to Spain. The 38-year-old is set for a farewell outing when Lazio host Pisa in the final round of the campaign on Saturday.
La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that he said goodbye at a dinner on Wednesday, telling colleagues the club had felt like a real family and that he always felt at home. He added that leaving is painful, but he departs with his head held high after giving everything.
One of the most decorated players of his generation, Pedro won 26 trophies with Barcelona, Chelsea and Spain. His haul includes a World Cup, a European Championship, three Champions Leagues and a Premier League title.
He arrived in Rome with Roma in 2020, then crossed the divide to join Lazio as a free agent in the summer of 2021 after an underwhelming spell. Over the past five years he became a key figure, contributing 38 goals and 19 assists in 208 appearances.
It remains to be seen whether he starts against Pisa or comes off the bench, but he will certainly be given the chance to take the pitch one last time. Organised fan groups will not be present due to the protest against Claudio Lotito, having already said farewell after the Coppa Italia defeat to Inter Milan.
