The Canaries initially went behind to their former manager Alex Neil when Mihailo Ivanovic’s 56th minute strike put his side ahead.

But goals from Pelle Mattson and Oscar Schwartau secured a comeback victory for Philippe Clement’s team, moving them to within six points of the top six with just five fixtures remaining.

This was the Norfolk outfit’s seventh win in nine league games, with this run propelling the club into the top half of the table.

Clement has earned a lot of plaudits since taking over from Liam Manning in November, saving the team from a possible relegation scrap since becoming head coach.

However, Norwich will likely have to rely on favours from the clubs ahead of them in order to have a chance at earning a play-off place, even with their fine form.

Mattsson issued a message on social media in celebration of his goal and Norwich’s win on Monday afternoon, with his equaliser setting the scene for their come-from-behind win.

He praised the side for their performance, and revealed that he is very much looking forward to taking on the Canaries’ bitter rivals Ipswich Town this weekend.

“Lovely day in London! Brilliant team performance today,” wrote Mattsson, via Instagram

“Can’t wait for Saturday!”

Mattsson joined Norwich last summer from Danish side Silkeborg after impressing in their seventh place finish in the table last season.

His equaliser against the Lions on Monday was his third goal in 28 appearances in the Championship this campaign, with the 24-year-old becoming increasingly important to Clement’s side.

The midfielder’s other two goals came in their previous two fixtures, scoring in a 1-1 draw at home to Portsmouth on Friday and in a 1-0 win against Charlton Athletic prior to the March international break.

These goals have helped earn seven points from their last nine, putting the team into ninth in the Championship table.

The gap to sixth place Wrexham is now six points with the Canaries having just five fixtures remaining.

However, the Red Dragons have a game in hand, which they will fulfill this evening against seventh place Southampton.

Next up for Clement’s side is their East Anglian derby clash at home to the Tractor Boys on 11 April in a 12.30pm kick-off.

Norwich will be keen to hurt Ipswich’s promotion push this weekend

Mattsson is in fine goal scoring form, and he could be a key figure this weekend with Norwich looking to bolster their own promotion hopes while hurting Kieran McKenna’s side.

Ipswich moved into second in the table with a 2-1 win over Birmingham City on Monday, and they are now in a strong position to gain automatic promotion.

But the Canaries have the possibility to play spoiler at Carrow Road on Saturday, and they couldn’t be going into the game with much better form.
