A touch of class from the Man City manager immediately after a disappointing result

Manchester City were unable to take the title race into the final day of the season after drawing 1-1 away at Bournemouth on Tuesday night, despite Erling Haaland setting up a grandstand finish with an equaliser in stoppage time.

Guardiola, though, was quick to show his class after his side’s draw with Bournemouth, sending a congratulatory message to Arteta.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “On behalf of Man City and my team, congratulations to Arsenal, Mikel, all the staff, all the players and the fans for this Premier League. They deserve it.

“I am pretty sure it will be special for him, he put in a lot of effort and work. Congratulations to him.”

It remains to be seen if Guardiola will be in charge of Man City next season as they bid to reclaim the Premier League title as speculation surrounding his future has dominated the media since Monday night.

Reports claim the Spaniard has decided to step down from his position as manager at the end of the campaign.

However, Guardiola refused to confirm or deny whether Sunday’s game at home to Aston Villa will be his last after a decade-long tenure.

"Like you understand the first person I have to talk to is my chairman because we decided when the finish the season we will sit and we will talk,” he added.

“Simple as that. And after we will take the decision.”
