Reports in Germany suggest that Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush has agreed personal terms with Man City
Pep Guardiola admitted Manchester City will be forced into action in the January transfer window, but refused to discuss the club’s links with Omar Marmoush.
The mood at City has been lifted by back-to-back victories but Guardiola’s side were on a disastrous run of one win in 13 matches before that.
It has left them sixth in the Premier League table and 12 points off the pace set by Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
City are expected to be busy this month in strengthening their squad, with reports suggesting that Eintracht Frankfurt forward Marmoush could join this month, along with defensive duo Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens and Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis.
Guardiola insisted he would usually prefer City not to be busy in the January window, but said this year would be different due to his side’s injury problems.
“All month you're going to ask the same about all we are linked with in the media, so I'm not going to talk,” Guardiola said. “You can insist, I'm not going to answer because I don't know the situation.
"We know we should not go to the transfer window, I don't like much. The situation that's happened this season with many, many, many injuries, we have to try to do it because the situation is what it is. But what happens, I'm not going to talk because I don't know.
"Of course I have conversations with the club but the process and what's happening, I don't know what's going to happen because it's so difficult. And what is going to happen is going to happen, otherwise I cannot say anything else.”
Marmoush has 13 goals and seven assists in the Bundesliga for Frankfurt this season and it has been claimed that he has agreed personal terms with City.
Asked why City were interested in the 25-year-old Egyptian, Guardiola responded: "Listen, was I not clear in my answer?
“Come on. I was clear in my answer - I'm not going to talk. He's a player from another club, I'm not saying an answer.
"You can say in every single press conference to talk about the transfer window until the end, I'm not going to answer one question. Don't go in that way.”
