Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly told friends which national team he would like to manage in future.
With incoming Etihad Stadium manager Enzo Maresca and Sporting Director Hugo Viana initiating their post-Pep plans, Guardiola’s personal future remains one of the most talked-about narratives as the summer approaches.
Having concluded a historic decade-long tenure in East Manchester with a spectacular 20th trophy at Wembley via the FA Cup, the legendary tactician is currently enjoying a well-earned sabbatical before mapping out his next professional chapter.
Guardiola has frequently dropped hints throughout his career regarding a desire to test himself on the international stage, specifically citing the unique challenge of a FIFA World Cup or European Championship campaign.
Now, speaking on Sky Sports News this week, MailSport’s Jack Gaughan has revealed that Pep Guardiola has already told friends that “he would fancy” the England national team job in future, should things align at that point in time.
The prospect of Pep Guardiola leading the Wembley dugout perhaps relies entirely on structural alignment over the coming years, with current England manager Thomas Tuchel locked firmly into his preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As such, any view towards hiring the Catalan would remain firmly on ice until the conclusion of the tournament cycle, while Guardiola’s deep familiarity with the English game would make him an undisputed dream candidate for the hierarchy when a vacancy eventually arises again.

Furthermore, a future stint with the Three Lions would allow the 55-year-old coach to maintain his deep personal and domestic roots in England, where he has resided since 2016 whilst simultaneously spending time in his home of Barcelona.
