Pepê Fermino sustained a right hamstring injury on his Santos senior debut, the 3-0 friendly win over União São João at Pacaembu on Saturday 4 July.
Diario Do Peixe reports that tests on Monday 6 July confirmed a lesion in the right biceps femoris, and the attacking midfielder has begun physiotherapy with the club’s medical staff.
He came on at half-time and was withdrawn near the end. He will miss the next part of the season and has no return date.
Considered a promising talent, he has struggled with recurring muscle issues that reduced his under-20 minutes. His contract was renewed last year until 30 June 2030.
This year he was returning from injury and featured sparingly for the under-20s. He played five Copinha matches, then in seven Brasileiro under-20 games he recorded one assist and two goals.
Born in Balneário Camboriú, he spent three years with Flamengo before joining Santos in 2018 at 11. He has been called up by Brazil’s under-17s for a UEFA tournament in Wales.
Although a midfielder, he also enjoys playing as a forward, often drifting into central pockets to create passes between the lines. He is quick and strong with good vision.
