"Persona de Luz" Leeds stars reflect on Guilavogui impact | OneFootball

As Josuha Guilavogui departs Leeds United at the end of his contract, tributes poured in from his teammates, who praised the midfielder for his leadership, professionalism, and impact both on and off the pitch.

Joining the club in October, as the club was suffering from injuries in the midfield area, the former Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid star would make 18 appearances, as the Whites won promotion and lifted the Championship, with Guilavogui also being credited as making a huge contribution off the pitch.

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo let the tributes on Saturday, posting on Instagram, "Josh, I'll miss you. In Spain, we call people like you: 'Persona de Luz' (Person of Light). This is what you mean to me. God bless you and your family. Love you Jefe."

This was quickly followed by the Championship's top golden boot winner, Joel Piroe, who added his own message, saying "Joined as a legend, left as a champ. I will miss your speeches the most veu pere".

On signing for the club, Guilavogui was also given the task of helping some of the younger players navigate the pressures of a title challenge, with Young Player of the Year, Willy Gnonto, adding "Thank you for everything you have done for me and for all of us, uncle. I will miss you."

His presence felt throughout the squad, goalkeepers Illan Meslier and Alex Cairns paid their own tributes, the former saying "Thank you for everything my uncle, incredible player, and an exceptional person!", whilst Cairns complimented this with "Great human being! Will miss your contagious smile".

"My legend" was Largie Ramazani's reaction to Guilavogui's departure, whilst Mateo Joseph added "Thank you for everything big brother. Wish you and your family all the best in life.”.
