Sunderland suffered their heaviest Premier League defeat of the season as Nottingham Forest raced clear at the Stadium of Light on Friday night. Three goals in 10 minutes left the visitors out of sight before the break.

Elliott Anderson added a fifth in stoppage time to cap a rout. According to Sunderland Echo, goalkeeper Robin Roefs was rated four after early saves were overshadowed by an error for Forest’s second while attempting to play out.

Nordi Mukiele struggled to his usual standards, his front-foot positioning found out in the first half and he was later penalised for a foul on Sels. He was unusually wasteful in possession. He was given four.

Dan Ballard headed numerous set pieces clear on a night when Sunderland generally defended them poorly, and he saw a finish ruled out. He was rated five.

Omar Alderete was off the pace before the interval, casual on the ball and repeatedly surrendering possession. He improved after the break, but the damage had long been done. He received three.
