Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé was the victim of an alarmingly dangerous challenge, during the club’s meeting with Espanyol this evening.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real are of course currently locked in action, in La Liga.

Fresh off a comfortable Champions League downing of Stade Brestois in midweek, Los Blancos have made the trip to Catalunya, for a clash with lowly Espanyol.

As things stand at the RCDE Stadium, the two sides remain deadlocked, unable to carve out what would likely prove a decisive opener.

As alluded to above, though, whilst the scoreline remains unchanged, hosts Espanyol can count themselves lucky not to be one down on the personnel front.

This comes after Carlos Romero, somehow, escaped a red card for a horror challenge on Kylian Mbappé.

As frontman Mbappé attempted to lead a break for Real Madrid, the Frenchman was scythed down from behind by way of a high, studs-up challenge into his calf.
