Pio Esposito joins Italy legends in elite company with goal against Luxembourg

Inter star Francesco Pio Esposito has become the third player to score more than three goals with the senior Italy national team before turning 21, after Giuseppe Meazza and Gianni Rivera.
Inter talent Pio Esposito scored the winning goal for Italy in a 1-0 win over Luxembourg on Wednesday.
As reported by Opta on X, the Inter striker is just the third player to score more than three goals with Italy at a senior level before turning 21. The other two are Azzurri legends Meazza and Rivera.

Meazza is the best scorer in Inter’s history and the second-highest Azzurri goal-scorer with 33 goals in 63 matches.
He was part of the Italy squad that won the World Cup twice in 1934 and 1938. Meazza also won the Scudetto three times with Inter.

Rivera, a 1969 World Cup winner, netted 14 times in 60 Italy appearances. A Milan legend, Rivera won two European Cups (now the Champions League) with Milan as well as three Serie A titles.
He’s also a 1969 European Championship winner with the Italy national team.
Pio Esposito will turn 21 on June 28 and has scored ten goals in 48 competitive appearances with Inter this term.
He has scored four goals in his first eight appearances with La Nazionale.
