The young defender of Congolese descent, Stephen Mfuni, is quickly earning the trust of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Last Sunday, he was named to the bench for the derby against Manchester United, a clash City won 3-0.

The Wigan native is also expected to be in the squad for next Sunday's fixture against Arsenal, part of matchday 5 of the Premier League.

At just 17 years old, Stephen Mfuni is a true product of the Citizens' academy. He earned his promotion to the first team after impressing for the youth squads.

To recap, the youngster has featured in 4 matches with the U21 side this season, registering a single assist—delivered against Manchester United in Premier League 2.

Having represented various England youth teams, he remains eligible to don the "Leopards" shirt.
