Inter Miami earned a 0-0 draw away at Charlotte FC in their fourth match of the season, fielding a heavily rotated side with youth to the fore. With a Champions Cup trip to Nashville SC next Wednesday in mind, Javier Mascherano shuffled his pack.
As reported by interheron.com, five homegrown players started, Ian Fray, Noah Allen, Santiago Morales, Daniel Pinter and David Ruiz, with Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul absent.
Chances came and went for the Men in Pink, who lacked a final pass. Goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo, rated 8.4, produced the save of the game. Sergio Reguilón returned from a pre-season injury and delivered balance at both ends.
Gonzalo Lujan, given 7.6, coped well with Charlotte’s physical forwards, encouragement with Maxi Falcon sidelined for an extended spell. Allen, 7, and Fray, 7.4, were composed and alert.
In midfield, Mateo Silvetti, 7.2, found a fine position but could not convert, while David Ayala, 7, moved the ball neatly. Santiago Morales, 6.9, showed vision and craft, and Ruiz, 6.8, had nervy moments yet helped preserve the clean sheet.
Up front, Luis Suarez, 6.5, lacked a goal but his experience steadied a youthful XI. Pinter, 7.1, stretched the back line and, at 18, looked promising. Late minutes went to Cesar Abadia-Reda, 6, Alex Shaw, 6.2, Telasco Segovia, 6.2, and German Berterame, 6.3, with Tadeo Allende unrated.
