Lazio were two minutes away from kissing their Champions League hopes goodbye, as they found themselves trailing against 10-man Juventus at home in a crucial clash in the epic race for fourth place. Nevertheless, Matias Vecino came off the bench to score the 96th equalizer that kept the dream alive. So here are our player ratings for Marco Baroni’s men.
Christos Mandas – 5.5
The Greek custodian looked shaky on a few occasions. Did well to get across in an attempt to deny the Juventus opener, but Kolo Muani put too much power behind the header.
Adam Marusic – 5.5
The Montenegrin offered little going forward, while Juve’s goal came from his flank.
Mario Gila – 6
The Spaniard looked solid for the most part, getting the better of Kolo Muani.
Alessio Romagnoli – 6
The experienced Italian defender denied Alberto Costa with a goalline clearance, but gave Kolo Muani too much space to head the ball home.
Luca Pellegrini – 5.5
The left-back lost his cool easily on several occasions against his parent club, while his crosses failed to cause any damage.
Matteo Guendouzi – 5.5
The Frenchman ran his socks off in midfield, but was second best to his compatriot Khephren Thuram who prevailed in the duel.
Nicolo Rovella – 6
The Italian Regista had a decent start to the match, contributing in both phases of the game. He was irritated by Marco Baroni’s decision to haul him off in the 65th minute, but Vecino’s entry proved to be the right call in hindsight.
Gustav Isaksen – 5.5
A tepid outing from the Dane who didn’t find too much space between Nicolo Savona and Timothy Weah.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – 5.5
The Nigerian threatened with an early shot that was parried away by Michele Di Gregorio, but he hardly made himself noticed afterwards.
Mattia Zaccagni – 5.5
The Lazio captain was far below his standards. Lost possession rather easily as he seemed to be far from his best physical condition.
Taty Castellanos – 6.5
While it was far from a vintage display from the Argentine, his contributions were once again vital. Made a scene so the VAR would notice Pierre Kalulu’s violent conduct and subsequently send him off, won a spot-kick (later ruled out for offside), and his header led to Vecino’s goal.
Boulaye Dia – 6
The Senegalese almost scored a late equalizer but was denied by a fingertip save from Di Gregorio, combined with the post.
Pedro – 6
The Spanish veteran raised the tempo upon his introduction, but his final touch wasn’t as sharp as usual.
Manuel Lazzari – 6.5
The Italian right-back was a clear upgrade on Marusic, at least from an attacking perspective. His cross instigated Vecino’s last-gasp goal.
Matias Vecino – 7
The Uruguayan midfielder added depth in the final third, and this approach eventually paid off, as he found himself in the perfect spot to pounce on the rebound.
