Monaco extended their unbeaten Ligue 1 run to six with a 2-0 win over Angers. According to Get French Football News, Sébastien Pocognoli’s side are now within four points of fourth-placed Marseille, who have a game in hand.

A tepid first half yielded little. The visitors posed the greater danger, often leaving two up against the last line, with Prosper Peter drawing the first save on 32 minutes and Yassin Belkhdim flashing wide after being slipped in by Peter. Monaco’s clearest opening saw Lamine Camara shoot off target from Aladji Bamba’s pass.

After the break the hosts finally threatened, Ansu Fati forcing their first effort on target. Angers still broke with intent, Belkhdim testing Philipp Kohn from the right. He was then shown a red card for a late tackle on Camara, but VAR spared him, and moments later Folarin Balogun scrambled in the opener.

Five minutes on, the advantage doubled. Half-time substitute Simon Adingra cut inside onto his right and curled unerringly into the far corner. Monaco then managed the contest calmly, yielding few chances.

Player ratings highlight Bamba’s composure and progression on the half-turn, a strong seven, and Adingra’s decisive cameo, also seven. Kohn earned six, while Aleksandr Golovin struggled, three, his confidence evidently low. For Angers, Peter impressed with pace, power and smart choices, seven, while Belkhdim rated four.

The result nudges Monaco back into the hunt for fourth, with Sunday’s fixtures to shape the picture.
