It has been reported that Wigan Athletic, Plymouth Argyle, Lincoln City and Rotherham United are interested in signing Fleetwood Town's Ryan Graydon.

The summer transfer window has just a couple of weeks left to run and clubs are gearing up for the mad scramble, with four League One clubs now chasing Fleetwood Town attacker Ryan Graydon.

Fleetwood, under the management of former FC Halifax Town and Barrow boss Pete Wild, have started this season very well in League Two, as the Cod Army chase a return to the third-tier.

The Lancastrians began their campaign with an impressive 2-0 defeat of newly-promoted Barnet at The Hive on the opening day of the season, before then defeating just-relegated Bristol Rovers by two goals to one at Highbury.

Wild has put together a squad that boasts a lot of attacking quality this season, with Will Davies having already notched three goals in the league since his move from Sutton United over the summer, and the likes of Ched Evans and James Norwood brought in to add further depth to the squad.

One man who is yet to get on the scoresheet but has started both of their victories is the highly-rated Ryan Graydon, who is now the subject of interest from a quartet of third-tier clubs.

Wigan, Plymouth, Lincoln and Rotherham want Ryan Graydon

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Wigan Athletic, Plymouth Argyle, Lincoln City and Rotherham United all have an interest in signing Ryan Graydon from Fleetwood Town this summer.

Thomas goes on to outline that Graydon is out of contract in the summer of 2026, and so a move for a fee may well therefore be preferable for Fleetwood this year.

Graydon joined Fleetwood in the summer of 2023 from Derry City, and the versatile forward has proven himself to be a real threat with a bit of potential still to reach.

The 26-year-old began his career at Bohemians before playing for Bray Wanderers and Longford Town. He has one cap at U19 level for the Republic of Ireland.

Wigan have added a few attackers so far this summer with Paul Mullin having arrived alongside Christian Saydee, Dara Costelloe and Callum Wright. Plymouth have also strengthened the final third with the additions of Jamie Paterson, Xavier Amaechi, Owwen Oseni and Bim Pepple.

For Rotherham, Graydon would be much-needed depth in attack, albeit the likes of Josh Benson and Kion Etete have joined so far, whilst Lincoln have yet to add in attack.

Fleetwood look strong but perhaps lack depth

Fleetwood do appear to have a strong team, and there is a good core of players that can be used outside of the starting eleven, but the one concern that supporters would have is a lack of depth over the long and harsh 46-game season.

That would therefore mean a sale of a player, especially a key first-teamer in the form of Graydon, cannot be countenanced unless replacements are to be brought in.

As well as Norwood, Evans and Davies so far this summer; they have also brought in Zak O’Sullivan and Calum Costello for their development squad on loan deals from Waterford, whilst Denver Hume and Toby Mullarkey have joined from Grimsby Town and Crawley Town respectively.

There have also already been a few first-team departures, though, with Phoenix Patterson sold to Stevenage, Brendan Wiredu sold to Plymouth Argyle and Mackenzie Hunt sold to UAE Pro League club Baniyas, following the departures of Ryan Broom, Callum Dolan and Danny Mayor at the end of their contracts.
