Former Polish goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski has come out strongly in his criticism of Hansi Flick, calling for the Barcelona manager to be dismissed.

In an interview with Polish channel Super Express (h/t AS), Tomaszewski was direct about Flick’s performance on the Barcelona bench.

Tomaszewski not happy with Flick

Flick is currently in his second season at Barcelona and secured his 50th win at the club recently against Real Oviedo.

The German tactician even signed a new contract with the club, after he led them to a domestic treble in his debut season.

However, Tomaszewski is not entirely happy with Flick, and he stressed that the Catalans should avoid further renewing his contract.

“Barcelona have a squad for the Club World Cup, in which he did not even participate. Without doubt, it has a squad for the Champions League, the most important trophy,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the coaching staff should hold on until the end, and I hope that they do not extend his contract, because the German gentleman is not performing very well. He can’t continue.”

He further added: “With such a footballing weapon, he should have won everything in Europe, and they lost against Inter, a good team, but the 5-0 final against PSG exposed them.”

The criticism comes in light of his compatriot, Robert Lewandowski’s reduced role in the Barcelona setup this season, as well as the fact that the Pole finished outside the top ten in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings.

“I think that Lewandowski should be among the top ten. But there are players like that, and it is like arguing about the superiority of Easter over Christmas,” admitted the former Polish goalkeeper.

“The winner was, without doubt, a controversial player, but he won the Champions League with the team, and it would be madness for someone outside of that level to win this award.”

“Lewandowski Must Go to Arabia”

This is not the first time Tomaszewski has been critical of Barcelona. A few weeks ago, he advised Lewandowski to leave the club entirely and move to Saudi Arabia.

Before the La Liga season had even begun, after watching Barcelona’s pre-season matches, he stated:

“Robert should end his time at Barcelona right now and go to a club in Saudi Arabia, as the best players in the world have done, except Messi.”

He added: “Let us be honest, this is the end. Robert is not very popular in the team, and the best players at Barcelona do not pass him the ball.”
