Porto ‘not in talks’ for Eliezer Mayenda as Portuguese reports push back | OneFootball

Portuguese reports have pushed back on links between Eliezer Mayenda and Porto, with three national newspapers indicating he is not a current target.

O Jogo claims the Sunderland forward is not on Porto’s recruitment list. A Bola and Record report no negotiations have been opened with Sunderland and say he is not among the club’s attacking options. Sunderland Echo understands the player wants regular football.

It follows reports earlier this week that Porto were in advanced talks over the 21-year-old, who has attracted interest this summer.

Rennes have also been credited with interest. Sunderland are in a strong position because Mayenda is under contract until 2030, so the club are under no pressure to accept a cut-price offer if serious bids do arrive.

Mayenda joined from Sochaux and has shown promise on Wearside. His ability to operate across the front line adds value, although competition for minutes has increased.
