Potter West Ham’s Worst-Ever Manager?

Having spent the past few days reading about number crunching done by Chat & other Ai, I decided to have a closer look into Graham Potter’s West Ham record myself.

The numbers don’t lie – Potter is officially West Ham United’s worst manager on recent record. Heading into a crunch clash against Crystal Palace that could define his future, Potter’s Hammers have slumped to a shocking 25% win rate.

Potter – 25% (W6 D5 L13 from 24 games)West Ham don’t even draw much under him – they just lose. That kind of form doesn’t just flirt with relegation, it guarantees it.

For context, even some of West Ham’s most maligned managers had stronger returns:

  • Gianfranco Zola – 28.75% (W23 D21 L36 from 80 games)
  • David Moyes (first spell) – 29.03% (W9 D10 L12 from 31 games)
  • Glenn Roeder – 31.40% (W27 D23 L36 from 86 games)
  • Julen Lopetegui – 31.82% (W7 D5 L10 from 22 games)

So while supporters might have thought Zola, Roeder or even Moyes’ first stint were tough to swallow, Potter has somehow managed to be worse. The difference between Zola and Potter’s record might seem like a slim 3% but that’s the difference between survival and relegation.

Unless something changes – and fast – West Ham are on course to sleepwalk into relegation. And if the Palace game goes wrong, it may not just be his win percentage that makes the headlines… it could be his P45.
