📈 Power Rankings: PSG and Bodo return after UCL wins | OneFootball

This week’s Power Rankings features returns for Bodo/Glimt and Paris Saint-Germain, while Real Madrid rise.

10. Galatasaray 🆕 (Last week: N/A)

Galatasaray are back in the Power Rankings table after a massive week for the Turkish champions. Okan Buruk’s side beat Besiktas in a high-stakes Istanbul derby, grinding out a 1-0 win despite Leroy Sane’s red card.

Gala then put themselves in control of their Champions League clash with Liverpool, as another 1-0 win secured a narrow lead to take to Anfield. A place in the quarter-finals for the first time in over a decade is at stake next week.

9. Inter Milan (Last week: 7th)

Inter Milan take a tumble after defeat in The Derby della Madonnina. The reverse shouldn’t affect their stroll towards the Scudetto, but continues a lousy recent record against their San Siro co-habitants. Inter have not won in their last seven meetings with Milan.

8. Bodo/Glimt 🆕 (Last week: N/A)

It’s difficult to rank Bodo given that the Norwegians aren’t currently playing domestic football, but it’s impossible to ignore their European achievements.

Five straight Champions League wins, including a 3-0 thrashing of Sporting, have put the tournament’s surprise package within reach of the last eight.

7. Paris Saint-Germain 🆕 (Last week: N/A)

Paris Saint-Germain bounce back into the Power Rankings thanks to an emphatic European win. The Ligue 1 leaders slipped up at Monaco last week to allow Lens back into the title race, but made amends superbly in midweek.

Luis Enrique’s side secured a 5-2 win over Chelsea in a statement performance from the Champions League holders.

6. RC Lens ↔️ (Last week: 6th)

Lens are back in the Ligue 1 title race and capitalised on PSG’s slip-up to close the gap. A 3-0 win over Metz reduced the gap to the leaders to one point and followed a hard-fought cup win at Lyon. Shootout success saw 10-man Lens progress into the French Cup semi-finals.

5. Man City (Last week: 4th)

Manchester City’s quadruple chase is hanging by a thread after losing 3-0 at Real Madrid. An impressive FA Cup win at Newcastle had been the perfect warm-up for the Blues, but Fede Valverde’s hat-trick saw them stunned in Spain.

But for Gianluigi Donnarumma’s penalty save from Vinicius, it could have been worse.

“3-0 is better than four, we cannot deny that,” Guardiola optimistically said at full-time.

4. Real Madrid ⬆️ (Last week: 5th)

Real Madrid move above Manchester City after blowing the Citizens away in Europe.

Federico Valverde did the damage with a first-half hat-trick, becoming just the 10th player to score a Champions League treble against an English side. Incredibly, City have conceded three of those in the last two seasons.

3. Barcelona ↔️ (Last week: 3rd)

Barcelona remain in control of the La Liga title race as we reach the run-in, with Lamine Yamal leading the charge.

The teenager has scored seven goals in his last seven league games after netting the winner at Athletic Bilbao, before a cool stoppage-time spot-kick rescued a result at Newcastle in the Champions League. Barca have plenty to play for in the upcoming weeks.

2. Arsenal ↔️ (Last week: 2nd)

Arsenal are another side in contention for multiple major honours and extended their unbeaten run to 12 games this week.

A rotated team progressed past Mansfield to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals at the weekend, before Kai Havertz’s late penalty, against his former team, saw Arsenal leave Leverkusen with a draw.

The North Londoners will be favourites to reach the last eight, where a probable tie with Bodo/Glimt awaits. Though no one will be taking either clash for granted, there’s a real chance to reach the Champions League’s last four again.

1. Bayern Munich ↔️ (Last week: 1st)

Bayern Munich are immovable at the summit of our Power Rankings right now, scoring 10 goals across two big wins since our last update.

The German champions eased past Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga (4-1) and hit Atalanta for six in the Champions League – with both triumphs coming in the absence of Harry Kane.

Vincent Kompany’s charges appear to be the team to beat.
