Inter Milan are on the verge of signing defender Tomas Palacios from Independiente Rivadivia.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the clubs have reached a complete agreement, and that the 21-year-old should sign next week after the paperwork is completed.

Today, Inter held a meeting with representatives of Independiente Rivadivia as well as a couple intermediaries.

These were concerning the Nerazzurri’s efforts to sign 21-year-old defender Tomas Palacios.

Palacios is the player Inter have set their sights on to make their final defensive reinforcement of the transfer window.

Inter are looking to sign a left-sided defender who can back up Alessandro Bastoni on the left of the back three.

Moreover, Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital have insisted on signing a younger profile. They want someone with room for growth rather than just a stopgap option.

And Palacios is a player who ticks all of those boxes.

Inter Milan To Complete Tomas Palacios Signing Next Week

In the last week, Inter have made big strides towards signing Palacios.

First there was the matter of Argentine clubs Independiente Rivadivia and Talleres sorting out his ownership situation.

Rivadivia had had Palacios on loan from Talleres. They have now purchased him outright and are negotiating with Inter.

The club’s Sporting Director Sebastian Peratta as well as Augustin Villa, a representatives of Rivadivia’s ownership were at Inter’s headquarters today.

Joining them were agent Simonian, acting as an intermediary, and lawyer Luca Peluso.

All of these executives met with Inter’s directors. The purpose of the visit was to iron out the details of Palacios’s move.

There is no doubt that the Argentine wants to join Inter.

And according to Sky, the clubs have reached a full agreement on the transfer. They worked out all but the final details and shook hands on the deal in today’s meeting.

Now all that’s left is the final paperwork. This will include a work permit in Italy for Palacios.

But once all of that goes through, then Palacios can sign his new deal. Sky reports that he should do so early next week.
