Italy will search for a challenging comeback against Germany when they travel to Dortmund tonight to play out the second leg of the Nations League quarter-final.
Despite going a goal down within the first ten minutes of the contest in the first leg, Germany rallied together to snatch a narrow victory in Milan thanks to strikes from Tim Kleindienst and Leon Goretzka. Die Mannschaft relied on captain Joshua Kimmich for their comeback as the Bayern Munich star assisted both goals. With the win, Julian Nagelsmann’s men continued their unbeaten run in the tournament and now they will hope to have the home support on their back to earn a semis spot.
Meanwhile, Italy are in hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition for the third consecutive time. Matteo Politano’s deflected cross set up Sandro Tonali’s goal in the first leg but they failed to exploit the momentum and ultimately fell prey to a resounding German side. Since tasting success in Euro 2020, the Azzurri have suffered massive heartbreaks by not qualifying for the World for two straight editions and they are now counting on Luciano Spalletti to deliver them some joy in tough times.
Here are the predicted line-ups for the match:
Germany: (4-2-3-1): Baumann; Kimmich, Rudiger, Schlotterbeck, Mittelstadt; Goretzka, Gross; Sane, Musiala, Adeyemi; Kleindienst.
Italy (3-5-2): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bastoni, Buongiorno; Bellanova, Barella, Ricci, Tonali, Udogie; Raspadori, Kean.
