Premier League announces MAJOR new rule change | OneFootball

The Premier League has announced new rule changes that will affect Liverpool from next season. The Reds have some decisions to make.

The Daily Mail reports that the Premier League have informed clubs of changes to their broadcasts from next season. The league are looking to get more in-depth with interviews.

That has seen all 20 clubs being sent three initiatives in regard to interviews. The first is 'mid-game' interviews, which involve substitutes being in front of a camera after leaving the pitch.

The interviews would be 'positive' only and must be about the match and nothing else. Both Manchester clubs, Newcastle United and Arsenal came up with that one.

There are also plans for 'controlled dressing-room filming'. This isn't the 'catch anyone out' and again 'must be positive' but would see a behind-the-scenes look at clubs on matchday.

Lastly, half-time interviews. While leaving the pitch, a player or coach would be interviewed with no more than three questions - and you guessed it, all must be 'positive'.

Clubs can list five individuals for that one, with broadcasters then allowed to pick from the list. The report ends by claiming that clubs must do at least one of these interviews twice a season.

Liverpool set to deal with rule change

It's all very, very American. Sport over there uses these kinds of interviews regularly, with broadcasters typically enjoying far more involvement than in the UK.

And it appears the Premier League wants to head in that direction. It's a strange one, given England's top flight is literally the biggest sporting league on the planet and thus should be the one others follow, but it'll be yet another change to way it's viewed.

Did anyone ask for this? Of course not. And fans aren't reacting positively to it. Still, we'll get used to it, as we have with everything else.
