According to an update from transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano, it has been learned that Liverpool are currently not open to selling Ibrahima Konate, despite growing interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are closely tracking the French defender and have already begun internal discussions over a possible move.

While nothing is concrete for now, Real Madrid are expected to keep a close eye on how the situation develops over the coming weeks.

Konate remains under contract at Anfield until 2026, which puts Liverpool in a tricky position.

Meanwhile, as reported before, the Premier League club had slapped a €50 million price tag on the player. However, Real Madrid are not willing to go beyond €20–25 million, knowing they could secure him on a free transfer if they wait until next season.

Despite interest from Madrid, Liverpool are not giving up on keeping the Frenchman. Renewal talks had hit a roadblock earlier in the year but reportedly resumed in May and June.

The club is now making a fresh push to extend Konate’s stay and fend off any approach from Real Madrid.

Still, the situation remains uncertain. There is a sense that Real Madrid have already made early moves behind the scenes, potentially laying the groundwork for a future deal.

The fact that contract renewal talks have not moved forward as expected has only added to the uncertainty around Konate’s future.

For now, Liverpool are standing firm. But if they eventually change their stance later this summer, it is likely Real Madrid will be ready.

Konate, for his part, is said to be genuinely interested in the Madrid project, which could give Los Blancos a significant edge if negotiations open.

As things stand, though, this is one to watch closely in the final stretch of the transfer window.
