According to journalist Matt Law in The Telegraph, Barcelona have placed a £60m (€69m) price tag on Fermin Lopez, a figure that Chelsea are not keen to meet at this stage.

It must be noted that Chelsea have shown interest in the 22-year-old midfielder, but his valuation could become a stumbling block.

For what it is worth, Chelsea are currently close to finalising terms with Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho, while also monitoring RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

It is considered highly unlikely, however, that the Blues will attempt to sign all three players. Instead, they are weighing up their priorities and deciding where best to allocate their spending power.

Reports suggest that Chelsea would be prepared to pay around €65m for Fermin, a figure slightly below Barça’s valuation. Whether that gap can be bridged remains to be seen.

Fermin wants to stay at Barcelona

For Fermin, the situation goes beyond numbers. Those close to the player insist that his stance has not changed, as he wants to stay at Barcelona and succeed at the club where he was developed.

Having come through La Masia and worked hard to secure a place in the first team, the midfielder is determined to make his mark under Hansi Flick.

Fans have already taken to him, and he has become one of the most appreciated young players in the squad.

What about Barcelona?

Barcelona, meanwhile, are maintaining a careful balance. While they are not pushing him out, they also won’t ignore Chelsea’s approach if the offer matches their demands.

With a fixed €65m on the table and a strong salary proposal for the player, this is already one of the most significant moves of the summer window.

For now, the final decision rests with the player. The choice is between chasing a new challenge in the Premier League or staying at the Camp Nou to continue his rise in the Blaugrana shirt.
