This week’s Chelsea Confidential has a long section on Axel Disasi, who has gone from forgotten bomb squad member to star of West Ham’s battle against relegation from the Premier League.
The defender has started every Premier League game since arriving at the London Stadium in January and the Hammers’ turnaround began almost exactly at that point. Inevitably that’s leading to talk about their desire to sign the 27 year old permanently.
“As well as his performances on the pitch, he is said to have been influential behind the scenes since arriving at the London Stadium,” the piece continues.
“The added complication for the Hammers is how other clubs in Europe will be taking note of his influence heading into a summer when it is known he will be for sale.”
The article claims that they “would not want to go near” the £39m paid by Chelsea to Monaco in 2023. They think his value has fallen significantly – which it probably has, given he spent so much of the last two seasons frozen out. But his good form now is starting to ramp it back up again, and it seems like multiple teams see the value of a solid box defending player at the peak of his powers.
Even if West Ham are relegated, it seems that there will finally be solid interest in signing Disasi from teams this summer.
Another transfer rumour doing the rounds relates to tonight’s game against PSG – the Parisians are apparently still keen on Enzo Fernandez.
