Arsenal's odds to win the Premier League title have been slashed from 4/9 to 1/8 after they moved a further two points ahead of Manchester City on Wednesday night.
The Gunners won 1-0 away to Brighton while Man City could manage only a 2-2 draw at home to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, meaning the gap at the top of the table is now seven points in favour of Mikel Arteta's men.
Arsenal have played a game more than City, but last night's results mean the destiny of the title is no longer in Man City's hands and firmly in the grip of the Gunners. Should Pep Guardiola's men win all their remaining games - including beating Arsenal when the two teams meet on Sunday 19 April - they will still require the Gunners to drop points elsewhere if they are to take the title back to the Etihad.
The Citizens have drifted to 9/2 in the Premier League Winner market.
Next up for Arsenal in the Premier League is a home game against Everton on Saturday 14 March, while Man City visit West Ham 24 hours later. Before then, both teams are in FA Cup and Champions League action.
Despite not playing, it was a terrible night for Tottenham as West Ham beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage and Nottm Forest rescued a point at the Etihad Stadium. In slightly better news both Burnley and Leeds lost their midweek game on Tuesday night.
The latest round of results mean that at the bottom of the table Spurs are now just one point above the drop zone on 29 points, ahead of both Forest and West Ham (28 points) and two points behind Leeds (31 points).
Having been as big as 500/1 in the Relegation market earlier this season, Tottenham are now as short as 10/3 to be relegated ahead of tonight's home game against Crystal Palace. The Hammers can be backed at 11/10, Forest at 5/2 and Leeds at 6/1.
It will be a nervous end to the season for one Betfair punter who placed a £15 bet in January on Tottenham to be relegated at 200/1. That punter will be £3,000 better off should the unthinkable happen.
