The FC Porto versus Sporting matchday 21 fixture at the Dragão is set for Monday nine February. The shift follows the presidential election first-round result, which forced a second round.

According to O Jogo, the decision was taken on Monday by Liga Portugal’s Permanent Calendar Commission, the body that sets and manages fixtures for the professional competitions. Official confirmation is expected tomorrow.

The change avoids a clash with the second round of the presidential elections, which feature António José Seguro and André Ventura.

The new date suits Sporting, who are scheduled to face Aves SAD in the Taça de Portugal in midweek beforehand, on four or five February.

As a result, Sporting gain an extra day of rest.
