Het Nieuwsblad is reporting that three teams are in for KV Mechelen striker Lion Lauberbach. The former Eintracht Braunschweig forward is of interest to Preston, Venezia and Danish side Bronby. While Preston and Bronby appear to be monitoring the strikers situation, Venezia are the only side to put a bid in. Venezia have offered €2m to the Belgian side, but Mechelen have rejected the offer. The club want to keep Lauberbach as he is a regular starter and gives them a chance of qualifying for the champions play-offs and a shot at European football.
It is quite a turnaround for the forward, who just last season would have been seen as expendable. Lauberbach joined Mechelen from Eintracht Braunswcheig back in 2023. During his first season he scored five goals in 35 games. Last season he faired better with eight in 37, but this season he has taken a step forward. In 22 games so far the forward has grabbed seven in all competitions. The rejection of the offer from Venezia keeps the door open for Preston and Bronby. However, whether Preston and the Danish side would be willing to spend over €2m on the striker is unclear.
