Bristol City host QPR this Saturday at Ashton Gate for Matchweek Nine of the EFL Championship.
The hosts have won 13 points to date and are placed fifth in the table after a 1-1 draw with Ipswich last time out.
QPR, meanwhile, have a dozen points to their name and occupy 10th position in the table. Julien Stéphan's team drew 0-0 against Oxford United in their previous fixture.
The last meeting between these two teams ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ben Mead (Robins on Tour): Bristol City added another point to the board on Tuesday night, as Ipswich Town were the visitors in BS3. Similar to last weekends trip to Preston, City probably did enough to earn all three points, with Sinclair Armstrong missing a great one on one chance late on, as well a few other well worked chances from Gerhard Struber's men. However, Ipswich's quality did show, especially off the bench with the likes of Hurst, Szmodics and Philogene all coming off the bench for the Tractor Boy's.
However, an injury hit Bristol City still managed to control the majority of the game, and with a little bit more quality in the final third, I think we'd have walked away with all three points on Saturday. Injury wise, Jason Knight didn't feature, after coming off injured at Preston last weekend. Zak Vyner did a brilliant job covering the centre midfield spot, and was probably my man of the match on Tuesday. Rob Atkinson also had to be replaced on Tuesday night, however it didn't look too bad from the stands, so hopefully it was just a precaution and he will be back and ready for Saturday.
Another home game is on the horizon, and a brilliant chance for City to get back to winning ways after three games without a win. QPR are the visitors to BS3 on Saturday, after a poor start to the season for the R's and a 7-1 loss away at Coventry in August, Rangers have gone five unbeaten, picking up some great wins away at Wrexham and at home to London rivals Charlton - and I'm sure Julian Stephan's men will be looking to continue their good form at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
Prediction: 2-0
Ben Platt (W12 Podcast): QPR head into this match on a five-game unbeaten run (three wins and two draws), though they’ll be disappointed not to have turned the recent stalemates against Oxford and Sheffield Wednesday into victories that could have lifted them into the top six. Their last outing was a goalless draw at home to Oxford, a game in which Gareth Ainsworth made five changes, but saw his side struggle to create attacking momentum. The Rangers will need a sharper performance if they’re to take anything from Ashton Gate.
History is on QPR’s side in this fixture: they are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Bristol City, winning three of them. Interestingly, the away side has had the upper hand in recent years, with the last home win in this matchup coming back in 2019.
Team news sees QPR without Mbengue, who serves a suspension, while Ilias Chair and Kwarme Poku both remain sidelined.
