Mikel Arteta’s side will look to continue their fantastic start to the season when they travel to Prague to take on 28th placed Slavia Prague in the Champions League.

It’s been a good time to support Arsenal so far this season. Arteta’s side have cruised in almost every single game this season bar two slips against Liverpool and Manchester City. Conceding just three goals in all competitions, the Gunners sit top of the Premier League and fourth in the Champions League league phase.

While much has been made about their lack of open-play goals, no one can deny that Arsenal are a threat in almost every area of the pitch, their set pieces are viewed almost like penalties and when they take the lead there is almost an inevitability that they wont concede. The Gunners’ defensive stats continue to get more and more ridiculous; they conceded just one shot on target in October’s Premier League outings, which could hardly be called a shot at that. They haven’t conceded a goal since Nick Woltemade headed against them in a 2-1 victory over Newcastle back in September.

They are formidable opponents for almost every team in the world right now and their next challengers are Slavia Prague. The Czech team are yet to win a game this Champions League campaign and sit on just two points, marginally in the play-off spots for now. They are a difficult team to breakdown; their last outing was a hard fought 0-0 draw away at Atalanta where they made a good account of themselves.

Slavia Prague have made a name for themselves by being defensively solid and a well-drilled team, and will provide a challenge to Arsenal but, the Gunners more than likely will have too much for the Czech side.

On the injury front, Arsenal have a fresh set of concerns following their almost routine victory over Burnley on the weekend. Striker Viktor Gyökeres was replaced at half time with a muscular issue and midfielder Martín Zubimendi was also brought off as a precautionary against, though the Spaniard is suspended for the Gunners’ Champions League trip anyway. Kai Havertz, Martin Ødegaard and Noni Madueke all will miss both the midweek game and the weekend fixture.

Despite their fresh set of injury concerns, Arsenal are expected to still be able to field a near full strength side which, after so many years of investment, can go toe to toe with almost any team in the world. A win against Slavia Prague would take the gunners up to 12 points in the Champions League and in excellent stead to qualify automatically for the last 16 as quickly as possible to focus on the league.
