Stoke City and Coventry City meet at the bet365 Stadium this Saturday in Matchweek 15 of the EFL Championship.
The Potters sit second in the table with 27 points after a convincing 3-0 win away to Oxford United in their last outing under Mark Robins.
League leaders Coventry City have 31 points to their name and come into the match on the back of a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United under Frank Lampard.
Saturday’s clash brings together two of the Championship’s in-form sides, with both teams looking to strengthen their promotion credentials.
The last meeting between the two teams ended with Coventry City winning 3-2.
Angela Smith (KnotFM): Stoke have won the last three games and are second in the league. The game v Coventry sees best attack v best defence in the league.
Mark Robins is preparing to face his old club but will be focused on getting the three points.
Coventry have four points more than Stoke and have managed to get more points away from home than any other team in the division.
Stoke will not fear Coventry and the fans at the Bet365 will be up for this one.
It should be an exciting contest with both sides going for it before the international break
Prediction: 2-1
Ross Cooper (SkyBlues Extra): Well we responded with a bang on Tuesday night against Sheffield United and extended our lead at the top of the table to 4 points ahead of Stoke City who when then face in a top of the table clash at the Bet 365 Stadium.
Not only does the game have the gravitas of being a matchup between 2nd and 1st, but we reunite aquaintances again with Mark Robins, a man who has had so much impact and input into our rise as a club over the last 8 years.
It is our final game before the international break and it is a huge opportunity to go into the break in great form if we can go and dispatch Stoke on the weekend.
I am anticipating a very tough game, Stoke have scored lots of goals in the last couple of games and their last home game saw them thrash Bristol City. They have threats all over their attack and Mark Robins has also ensured Stoke have the best defence in the league, Stoke have only conceded 9 goals in 14 games this season.
So it is the best defence going head to head with the best attack in the league so something is going to give and it is interesting to see which way that goes.
My slight concern is from our last away game which saw a very flat performance and defeat at Wrexham and if we repeat that level of performance we will certainly lose so we need to be at it in every aspect to get a positive result.
We are capable and need to show why we are currently the best side in the league.
