A Tiktok of Philippe Coutinho has gone viral proving that the Little Magician still has it.

Brazilian sports account ‘geglobo’ posted the clip, which has 10.4 million views at time of writing, of the former Red skipping away from two opponents, using his quick feet to slip a slide tackle and then immediately nutmeg the other, before being fouled.

The incident came in a game between Vasco da Gama, Coutinho’s boyhood club who he is currently back on loan at from Aston Villa, and current Brazilian title-holders Palmeiras.

The Tiktok brought back memories that Liverpool fans around the world will happily reminisce over. The comments section is flooded with contributions such as ‘Prime Coutinho was something else’ and ‘The magician rolling back the years!’.

The Brazilian was consistently one of the best players in a Liverpool shirt for the five seasons he spent at the club between January 2013 and January 2017, scoring 41 goals in 152 games. His ability with long range efforts would endear him to any fanbase, but goals against Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton will always stand out amongst the rest.

His career unfortunately flattened out after his departure from Merseyside. After joining Barcelona in a now-infamous £105million+ deal, he contributed to two consecutive La Liga title winning squads, and yet was shipped out to Bayern Munich on loan due to financial issues at the club. In his return to his parent club, he netted two goals and an assist as Bayern demolished the Spanish giants 8-2.

After an injury sidelined him for the entirety of 2021, Coutinho returned to the Premier League in a stunning move to Aston Villa, who were managed at the time by none other than Liverpool icon - and Coutinho’s former teammate - Steven Gerrard. With 5 goals in 19 games in the Midlands it really felt like the years were being rolled back.

However, he fell out of favour following Gerrard’s sacking and spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Qatari outfit Al-Duhail.

And now, in a poetic way, the Little Magician finds himself back home, going viral on Tiktok on an otherwise unnoteworthy 1-0 loss to the best team in the land.
