Tonight Chelsea take on PSG, and the main focus right now is on the two teams and what kind of a game we’re going to have.
But Footmercato have taken a different angle, noting that there is ongoing PSG interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. They cite a story in L’Equipe all about the admiration that PSG and their director of football Luis Campos have for the midfielder.
Apparently PSG “are in contact with the Chelsea star and his representatives.”
We can see why they would want him, and we can see why Enzo might eventually want to go and try playing for a different club, especially if Chelsea continue to fail to challenge for league titles.
But with a contact until 2032, the amount of money it would take for them to sign him remains prohibitively massive. Chelsea paid more than £100m and aren’t going to let him go for much less until he’s far deeper unto his deal.
Unless the Argentine starts making a major push to leave the club, we expect him to remain a key piece of the squad at Stamford Bridge for years to come. PSG are going to have to wait.
A big question about the teams tonight is who will play in goal – and Liam Rosenior gave his thoughts on that today.
Former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva also played for PSG, and has given his thoughts on how Liam Rosenior could affect tonight’s game.
