Real Madrid’s search for midfield reinforcements is extending far beyond the biggest names in the market, but one of their most exciting targets may already be edging towards a different destination.

While much of the attention has focused on the club’s pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, Real Madrid’s recruitment team continues to monitor several emerging talents across Europe.

Among them is Lille sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi, a player regarded as one of the brightest young midfielders in world football.

However, the race for the Moroccan prodigy is becoming increasingly complicated.

According to Rodra (h/t Madrid Zone), Paris Saint-Germain currently hold a significant advantage in the battle to sign Bouaddi, potentially creating a major obstacle for Real Madrid’s transfer plans.

Bouaddi’s rise has been impossible to ignore over the past year.

The Lille midfielder has developed into one of Ligue 1’s most promising young players and recently enhanced his reputation even further with an eye-catching display for Morocco against Brazil at the FIFA World Cup.

At just 18 years old, he has already attracted comparisons with some of the game’s most respected midfielders.

Names such as Patrick Vieira, Sergio Busquets and N’Golo Kante have all been mentioned when discussing elements of his playing style, showing the unique blend of defensive intelligence, athleticism and technical quality he brings to the pitch.

Real Madrid have been tracking his progress lately and see him as a potential addition capable of strengthening the club’s midfield for both the present and the future.

Importantly, the teenager is also viewed as a credible alternative should negotiations for Fernandez fail to progress as hoped.

PSG hold an important advantage

Despite Real Madrid’s interest, the Spanish giants are far from alone in their admiration.

Paris Saint-Germain have been following Bouaddi for some time and are believed to be in a strong position thanks to their familiarity with the French market and their ability to offer a clear pathway within Ligue 1.

For a player who has already established himself at Lille, remaining in France could prove an attractive option, especially with PSG continuing to build a squad around young elite talent.

That local advantage is one reason why the French champions are currently considered favourites in the race.

Despite the competition for the young midfielder, completing a deal will not be easy because he remains under contract with Lille until 2029, placing the French club in a strong negotiating position.

Combined with his recent World Cup displays and growing interest from PSG, any transfer fee is likely to increase significantly in the coming months.

That reality explains why Real Madrid are still evaluating all available options rather than blindly following targets.
