France’s World Cup campaign so far has been one big party for most players – but one PSG star isn’t having a great time out there.

Things are looking rosy for the French national team at the World Cup – they started the competition as favourites and have shortened their odds round by round after impressing more than anyone else in the tournament.

Not every player is delighted though – and French football paper L’Equipe notes that a PSG player is suffering out there.

Warren Zaire Emery had an amazing season at club level, both when asked to play in central midfield or at right back. But so far he’s not had a single minute for France. Sources say he’s “struggling to cope” with the situation” and has become increasingly frustrated.

WZE had a similar situation in 2024, where he spent the whole tournament on the bench. He’s buried deep on the midfield depth chart and isn’t even seen as a replacement for Jules Kounde at right back. The injury to Aurelian Tchouameni gives him a chance of playing a few minutes – but it’s unlikely to change his perspective too much.

Given how much of a cruise it has been for France so far, surely Didier Deschamps could have found a chance to get the 20 year old off the bench?
