Enzo Fernandez cast doubt over his future when he said he did not know whether he would be at the club next season following Chelsea’s Champions League defeat to Paris St-Germain.
Although the Argentine subsequently said he was ‘very comfortable at Chelsea‘, he could reportedly be open to leaving the club.
PSG and Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Fernandez’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now dismissed claims linking the Chelsea star with PSG.
He said on his YouTube channel: “Paris Saint-Germain are satisfied with their current midfield options, having also added Dro Fernandez to the squad in January.
“At the moment, they are not pursuing a deal for Fernandez.”
Chelsea view Fernandez as a ‘very important player, a top player on the pitch, a leader and a winner’.
They also believe that his statement after the PSG defeat highlights his desire to win and not an indication that he wants to leave.
Chelsea are also understood to be working on new contract terms despite the midfielder already being tied down until 2032, as they look to end speculation over his future.
The 25-year-old would command a hefty fee if any club wants to sign him next summer.
Chelsea will hope Fernandez can inspire an upturn in form after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Everton left them three points behind the final Champions League qualification place.
The FIFA Club World Cup holders need a strong finish to avoid missing out on Europe’s elite football competition next season.
