According to a report from RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain are set to create a dedicated area within the stands at the Parc des Princes, which will allow head coach Luis Enrique to manage some games from the stands. During Les Parisiens’ 2-0 victory against Lens last Sunday, the Spaniard chose to watch his team from the press box before returning to the touchline for the second half.
When managers are sent into the stands, it is normally for punishment. However, that is not the case for Luis Enrique. The PSG manager believes watching from the perspective of the fans allows him to see how his players are performing before being able to refine his instructions during the interval, after which he resumes his place in the dugout. During the first half, Rafel Pol, the assistant coach, was left in charge on the touchline.
It remains to be seen whether the new dedicated section will be in operation for PSG’s next home game against Auxerre. This weekend, the UEFA Champions League winners travel south to face Marseille in Le Classique. RMC understand that no requests to coach from the stands will be accommodated.
