Manchester United’s pursuit of PSG midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery has run into two concrete problems: the French club have declared him unavailable, and the 20-year-old has no interest in forcing a move, according to The Peoples Person, citing TEAMtalk.

The Reds made an enquiry for Zaire-Emery after identifying him as a dream midfield target, but the response from Paris has been unambiguous. TEAMtalk report that PSG have made it abundantly clear the player is not for sale this summer, and that Zaire-Emery himself has no intention of pushing for a move away from the Champions League winners.

With a contract running until 2029 and described as central to PSG’s project, the club have put all suitors – United included – firmly on notice.

United’s need in midfield is not in question. Casemiro has departed for Inter Miami, and Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious injury at the World Cup, leaving the Reds dangerously light in the centre of the park. Andrey Santos has arrived from Chelsea and made a positive impression in pre-season, while Youri Tielemans was signed from Aston Villa to add experience and creativity.

The club are still targeting a third midfield addition, with Manu Koné and Alex Scott among the names under consideration alongside Zaire-Emery. Whether any of those alternatives provide a comparable profile to the PSG man is a different question entirely.

What makes this particular pursuit awkward is the double barrier. A club determined to keep a player is one obstacle; a player who is genuinely content where he is makes any deal almost impossible to engineer. Zaire-Emery is happy with life at the Parc des Princes and has not expressed any desire to leave this summer and has not expressed any desire to leave.
