PSG star Barcola turns down contract extension! Will Bayern make a move now? | OneFootball

Even before his move to Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern was considered a strong contender to sign Bradley Barcola. Now, the door could open again. 

That’s because the French forward doesn’t seem to be 100% satisfied with his current role and status at PSG.

For quite some time now, the French league leaders have been trying to extend the attacking star’s contract—so far without success. Now, consistent media reports are causing a Barcola sensation!

Barcola rejects PSG’s offer!

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that the player has rejected an offer to extend his contract with the reigning Champions League champions. What’s more, the player is said to have made it clear to PSG that he has no intention of extending his contract at all.

This is further supported by a report from L’Equipe, which also states that the star forward does not want to sign a new contract in the French capital.

This is, of course, not good news for PSG. The clear plan was to secure Barcola’s long-term commitment by offering him a raise in his base salary—in part to preempt any potential transfer inquiries.

It’s no secret that the market for attacking players is fiercely competitive. Several clubs are currently in the running for Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig. PSG is among them, but Real Madrid currently has the edge.

The Royals themselves are currently facing the potential loss of Vinicius Jr., who has been linked with Arsenal. That alone illustrates the complexity of this summer’s transfer market.

So will Bayern step in for Barcola and pull off a major coup after all? That’s unlikely without a departure in the offense. Although the record champion’s interest is well-known and documented.

Liverpool FC, in particular—but also Arsenal, if there’s no chance of a breakthrough with Vinicius—are in pole position for Barcola. However, there are rumors that Luis Díaz is highly sought after by Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Only if that actually materializes could Bayern make a move for Barcola.
