PSG will face Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals. Les Parisiens were due to face the winners of the RO16 tie between Galatasaray and the Reds, and the Premier League side prevailed (4-1 on aggregate). Last week, Mario Lemina handed Galatasaray a slender one-goal lead before tonight’s return leg at Anfield.

Dominik Szoboszlai eventually restored parity on aggregate in the tie. Before half-time, the Hungarian midfielder was fouled inside Galatasaray’s box, but Mohamed Salah missed the chance to put the Reds ahead as his rather tame spotkick was saved by Uğurcan Çakır. The Egyptian would redeem himself in assisting Hugo Ekitike. Ryan Gravenberch and Salah then offered Arne Slot’s Premier League champions more breathing air in the tie.

Liverpool and PSG will therefore meet again in the Champions League knockout stage after last season’s RO16 tie, that Les Parisiens won on penalties at Anfield. Like last year, Liverpool will host the return leg in their famous ground. The winning side of this PSG – Liverpool quarter-final will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the semi-finals. The Champions League quarter-finals will be played on 7 / 8 and 14 / 15 April.
