Holders Paris Saint-Germain know they face a tough test in the defence of their Champions League crown as they take on Chelsea in a fascinating round of 16 tie.
PSG were stunned by a side then managed by Enzo Maresca in the Club World Cup final last summer just a matter of weeks after securing continental success, and may just be eyeing a measure of revenge as the London club travel to the French capital. With Lens pushing them close in Ligue 1, Luis Enrique’s side cannot at all afford full focus on this competition and had to come through a hard-fought play-off encounter with Monaco to even make it to this stage.
Chelsea, meanwhile, progressed from the top eight of the league phase and thus return to European action after a short break. Fluctuating form in the Premier League has somewhat stalled their campaign after a strong start under Liam Rosenior, but their manager knows PSG well from his time with Strasbourg, and may just fancy his chances across two legs.
Just a reminder of the tournament bracket for these two sides.
The winner of this tie will face either Liverpool or Galatasaray in the next round, with a potential semi-final against one of Bayern Munich,Manchester City or Real Madrid to come after that!
Certainly plenty to prove for either side, with some real tests ahead for Liam Rosenior’s man if they can navigate this round of 16 tie.

In terms of average age, Chelsea (24y 31d) and Paris SG (24y 195d) are the two teams with the youngest starting XIs fielded in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Since the start of last season, only Ousmane Dembele (16) has more combined goals and assists for Paris SG in the Champions League than full back Achraf Hakimi (13). The Moroccan also leads all players for the French side in this period for assists (8) and chances created (54).
Estevao is Chelsea’s joint-top scorer in the Champions League this season (3 – level with Joao Pedro). Should he find the net in this match, he would become the youngest ever South American player to score in a knockout stage game in the competition.
These two sides have met eight times in this competition in the past, with Chelsea winning two, PSG winning three and three ending as draws.
The first meeting came in the group stages in 2004/05, where Chelsea drew 0-0 at home before winning 3-0 away.
And the most recent meeting came in the round of 16 in 2015/16, where the Parisian side won both legs 2-1.
Of course, these teams also contested the ‘first’ Club World Cup final last summer, with the Blues dismantling the European champions on their way to a 3-0 win.
