PSG’s Lucas Chevalier playing for World Cup spot with potential start against Nantes | OneFootball

According to RMC Sport, Lucas Chevalier (23) could be set to start between the posts for Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening as they prepare to face FC Nantes. This match may prove pivotal for the French stopper’s hopes of being included in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.  

The former Lille goalkeeper has lost his spot as the number one choice in the eyes of Luis Enrique with Matvei Safonov preferred to the Frenchman in recent weeks. RMC understand that this will likely remain the same until the end of the season, further prohibiting the 23-year-old’s hope of being taken to the US in the summer to represent his nation. 

Deschamps hoping for Chevalier to get more playing time

If the France boss is to include the PSG stopper in his final squad for the World Cup, he will need to play more minutes before the end of the season. Wednesday evening’s match against Les Canaris could be the ideal opportunity for the goalkeeper to prove to Deschamps that he deserves to be in his squad.
