Harry Kane has had a truly special, outstanding season—even though he ultimately fell short of winning it all in both the Champions League and the World Cup. But the numbers now underscore just how special his season was. 

It was already well known before his move to Bayern that Kane is a gifted goal-scorer. And the fact that his stats for the 2025–26 season were impressive is nothing new either. After all, he managed to add even more goals during the World Cup this summer.

But just how spectacular the Englishman’s season ultimately was becomes especially clear when you compare Kane to other top strikers in Europe.

Kane’s 25/26 Season: Pure Dominance in Comparison

Kane scored a whopping 73 goals in 66 games during the 2025–26 season. That alone is a masterful achievement worthy of recognition. But things get interesting when you look at his competitors.

The gap between him and the rest of the field is simply staggering. Kylian Mbappé ranks second among players who have scored the most goals for both their club and national team—and trails Kane by a whopping 14 goals! Mbappé scored his 59 goals in 63 games.

Erling Haaland has also scored 59 times for Manchester City and Norway. It took him 65 games to do so. All three top strikers are thus pretty much on the same level in terms of games played, which ultimately supports the comparability of the numbers.

The drop to fourth place, where Sporting striker Luis Suárez ranks, is even more dramatic. He scored 43 goals, putting him 16 goals behind the top three and a full 30 goals behind Kane.

This context really underscores the significance of Kane’s numbers. Only one player has ever scored more goals in a single season—unsurprisingly, that was Lionel Messi.
