QPR's summer transfer window was one of the best in the Championship, with the R's recruitment earning them 'dark horse' labels from supporters across the division.

New manager Julien Stephan was backed with the likes of Kwame Poku and Richard Kone, who impressed with Peterborough and Wycombe in League One respectively, while Koki Saito signed for the club permanently after a positive start to life at Loftus Road on loan from Belgian outfit Lommel SK.

The R's picked up their first win of the campaign over the weekend, beating Charlton 3-1, bringing some positivity to Loftus Road heading into the international break.

Now, with the transfer window closed, FLW's QPR Fan Pundit Louis Moir has given his thoughts on the club's business over the summer, with only one real concern - in midfield.

"Hopefully we can adapt" - QPR transfer window verdict given

"The main issue is the lack of getting a real number 8 in midfield," said Louis when asked what one thing QPR got wrong over the summer transfer window. "The sort of progressive, ball-playing midfielder that we have lacked for some time."

"Ultimately, we have not signed anyone in that key position. And I just don't understand how we have had all summer and still failed to get one. If we have injuries, you are looking at a gap in midfield."

Emphasising his point, Louis still remained positive when it came to the window overall: "We could have really done with someone, and it's not happened. But, overall, it was a great window; some of the players I didn't think we would be able to attract, such as Kone or Poku."

"But, hopefully, the lack of midfielder doesn't affect us too much. Fingers crossed, we can not be overrun in certain matches, and hopefully we can adapt," Louis concluded.

Julien Stephan showcased adaptability after tough start

R's fans had to wait until the end of August before they secured their first league win of the season, with Stephan making the perfect adjustments to see his side overcome Charlton after being on the wrong end of a 7-1 scoreline against Coventry.

"I said after the game against Coventry that we would have a completely different team," said Stephan following his side's first win.

"In the Championship, we learn with each game, and it's important to adapt sometimes. If we have to adapt, then we will adapt, no problem. I think we learned from the last game."

Charlton manager Nathan Jones also noted the change in tactical approach, with Stephan's side opting to go long, rather than play with the ball: "Credit to their manager," said Jones. "They went against everything they've done through pre-season and the first three games of the season."

"They were very direct, didn't risk possession, sat off [without the ball]. We didn't have enough quality to break them down."

QPR climbed up to 18th after picking up three points for the first time this term, and Stephan's adaptability will only prove positive as the season progresses.

Louis mentioned the lack of midfield additions over the summer. However, Stephan is a coach carrying experience at the top level, and this will come in handy when it comes to mitigating any potential personnel issues across the R's squad.
