Igli Tare is in pole position to become AC Milan’s next sporting director, and if he were to be hired then a big list of tasks awaits him.

Quotidiano Sportivo report that Tare seems ever closer to becoming the new sporting director of Milan. The former Lazio player will have several problems to deal with from day one, and time is of the essence.

Among the first are the contracts of Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez that will expire in June 2026. An agreement had been reached with the goalkeeper for a renewal (until 2028) and a salary increase (to €4.5-5m net per year), but the deal has not yet been finalised.

The defender, on the other hand, has repeatedly reiterated that he wants to stay, while the club had accepted Como’s offer in January and seem to think differently. There is nothing to suggest an extension is close.

Luka Jovic’s contract is also expiring. The idea of a one-year extension is growing, which until recently seemed very far away. Tammy Abraham is also convincing but he valued by Roma at €25m, and his salary of €4.5m net is high.

On the other side, there is Alexis Saelemaekers, who the Giallorossi would like to keep and whose value has risen compared to the €15m at which it was rumoured to be this summer, given his performances.

Kyle Walker’s permanence is much less certain: the €5m fee to be paid to Manchester City is no longer a formality. Joao Felix’s future far from the Rossoneri: he will return to Chelsea, with Benfica and Galatasaray ready to bet on him.

There are those out on loan who could be sold, above all Pierre Kalulu (€14m plus €3m in bonuses will arrive from Juventus), but also Ismael Bennacer (€12m from Marseille) and Tommaso Pobega (same amount as the Algerian, Bologna willing to negotiate).

The certainties to build around are Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao. On the way out, one between Malick Thiaw (liked in Germany) and Fikayo Tomori (appreciated by Juve and Tottenham in January) as well as Samuel Chukwueze.

On the way in, keep an eye on ‘Made in Italy’ policy. Samuele Ricci (Torino) and Lorenzo Lucca (Udinese) have been followed for some time as have Riccardo Orsolini (Bologna, also sounded out in January) and Federico Chiesa.

For the defence, Diego Coppola (Verona) and Pietro Comuzzo (Fiorentina) are on the list. These are changes that will have to be shared with the new coach: the profile of Massimiliano Allegri seems to put (almost) everyone in agreement.
