In a further striker news story at Rangers, it appears that Rangers are finally about to shed themselves of the absolute waster that has been Danilo. A truly chronic signing, his stats for Feyenoord in Holland were not inspiring. For some reason, Michael Beale felt fit to offer £6M for this guy and pay £40,000 per week. Danilo’s Rangers exit would be wonderful.

A Catastrophic Investment

To safely say that investment has not been fulfilled is an understatement. We never got anything close to a return. Twenty five goals and assists since 2023 shows how poor the investment has been. The Brazilian has been absolutely atrocious for Rangers.

Decline and Disinterest

He is a reasonably talented finisher but even that dried up in the last six months to a year. He started missing blatantly awful chances. It looked like his heart was not at the club. Of course, there was the whole Danilo’s Da thing. We are not even going to bother with that.

January Relief

It was light fun for a short period. At the end of the day, Danilo was not good value. Getting rid of him would be one of the biggest successes of the January window. That is if it comes to pass.

Interest From Holland

NEC Breda are the side in Holland making the bid. They want to bring the former Eredivisie player back. We would be delighted if this happens. He is a striker we feel nothing but cynicism about.

Beale and the Deal

It is not his fault what he was paid. His agent did an absolute number on Rangers. He also did it on Michael Beale. Beale was an incredibly naive individual. His job was not negotiating with players. He wanted Danilo and he brought him to Rangers. He spent far too much doing so.

A Pattern of Poor Judgement

A clue to how bad Philippe Clement was as a Rangers manager exists here. He also wanted Danilo at Bruges. That was during Danilo’s Ajax days. This is not a great striker. He is above average at best.

The £11M waste

Danilo cost a total of £11M in wages and transfer fee over 2.5 years. If ever anything summed up bad spending for no return, that would be it.

Cutting Losses

At the end of the day, we will be thrilled. We want cash for him. We also want his exorbitant wages gone. As said before, Ibrox Noise believes his wage was around £40,000pw. We have had several sources confirm that.

Final Goodbye

It was the only way Beale could lure him from the Eredivisie. Beale was extremely naive. It was never his role to negotiate. He did it anyway. Danilo may end up at a Champions League side. We would be thrilled if that happens.

Quite frankly, we would take almost anyone instead. That includes a German third division striker we have never heard of. All we can say is Danilo’s Rangers exit will be welcome. We hope.
