If a recent report from Il Messaggero (cited by The Daily Record) is believed to be true, Rangers have revived interest in Anass Salah-Eddine ahead of a potential summer move. But they are not alone in the race, with La Liga newcomers Elche also keeping close tabs on the AS Roma left fullback.
The 23-year-old Netherlands youth international spent his youth years with Blauw-Wit Amsterdam, RKSV Pancratius, Amsterdamsche FC, and AZ Alkmaar before joining the esteemed ranks of Ajax. Salah-Eddine made 9 senior appearances during his tenure with the Godenzonen, but was eventually roped in by the fellow Eredivisie outfit FC Twente following a successful loan stint.
Although the Gers were previously keen on having him in their ranks, the youngster chose to stay in his homeland and continue to develop in familiar surroundings. Roma snapped him up for €8.5m earlier this year, but he has since failed to leave a mark with just three outings for the Serie A giants. Salah-Eddine does not belong to Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans, and therefore, could be offloaded soon before the window shuts.

Meanwhile, the Giallorossi would only entertain a permanent transfer or a season-long loan that includes a buy option. According to Il Tempo, he has been frozen out of the first-team picture and told to find a new destination to revive his career.
Rangers are going through a squad rebuild under new boss Russell Martin, who has tied down several new names to bolster various areas across the pitch. Nevertheless, the Light Blues have lost many first-team stars and are expected to part ways with both left fullbacks.
With Jefte closing in on a return to Brazil with Palmeiras, forgotten Ridvan Yilmaz should follow, amid ongoing interest from Turkey. The Glasgow giants have reacted swiftly by completing a season-long loan move for Brentford teenager Jayden Meghoma. But they must aim for further reinforcements, given the youngster’s lack of first-team experience south of the border.
Despite signing Jefte for a minuscule £800,000 last summer, the club would make a significant profit from the sale, with Palmeiras ready to splash around £6m for the 21-year-old. The Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers-led takeover has steadied the ship, and the Gers are now well-positioned to step up the chase for the Dutchman.
Known for his energy, marauding runs, crosses, cut-insides and link-up play from the flank, Salah-Eddine possesses all the traits of a modern-day fullback. He should fit well with Martin’s style of play, as the manager is working towards finding the right balance as soon as possible.
