Rangers will take on FC Porto this Thursday evening for their concluding UEFA Europa League league stage encounter.
The Portuguese side currently occupies ninth position with 14 points, narrowly missing the crucial top-eight spot, and must triumph to guarantee progression without entering the playoff elimination round.
Rangers already been knocked out with just four points accumulated over seven fixtures, although the Scottish side are currently on an eight match winning streak across all competitions.
The Scottish team will miss Connor Barron, Bailey Rice, and Derek Cornelius due to injuries, with John Souttar nursing a knock that prevented him from joining the squad in Portugal. Dujon Sterling, who is recuperating from a muscle problem, is scheduled for training on Thursday but hasn’t made the journey to Portugal.
Forward Danilo will sit out for personal matters, as his partner is due to give birth. Furthermore, the recent January acquisitions—Andreas Skov Olsen, Tochi Chukwuani, and Tuur Rommens—cannot feature since they weren’t registered for the Europa League squad.
Manager Danny Rohl has stressed the value of preserving the team’s victorious mindset, remarking: “We need to be well-organized.” He added that although some changes to the lineup are planned, the players remain keen to challenge Porto’s squad.
Possible Rangers starting XI: Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Fernandez, Meghoma; Raskin, Diomande; Gassama, Aasgaard, Moore; Miovski
The match will kick off at 8pm BST on Thursday, 29th January.
