FC Barcelona managed to take care of Sevilla in dominant fashion in front of the home crowd at Spotify Camp Nou. The Catalan giants secured all three points and restored their four-point lead at the top of the La Liga table.
A 5–2 thrashing saw Raphinha score three goals, while Joao Cancelo and Dani Olmo added one each. Throughout the game, it was a dominant display from La Blaugrana ahead of their upcoming clash against Newcastle United.
Here are the ratings for the Barcelona players.
Starting XI:
Joan Garcia: 7.0/10
The Spanish goalkeeper could not do much about the goals he conceded, but his overall play aside from that was solid. A decent performance from the goalkeeper.
Xavi Espart: 7.0/10
A great display from the youngster, who showcased strong resilience in defence and won his duels well. His passing was solid as well.
Pau Cubarsi: 7.5/10
Composed on the ball and completed a high number of passes in this game. The ball was often circulated through him, and he did a commendable job as that focal point. Defensively solid as well.
Gerard Martin: 7.0/10
A bit passive when it came to making line-breaking passes, even when his teammates asked for the ball, but he gradually grew into the game. His runs into the opposition box were noteworthy as well.
Joao Cancelo: 9.0/10
Scored a sensational goal with a great run into the opposition’s box and won both penalties that Barça had in this game. Beyond that, his dribbling and passing were relentless as well.
Marc Bernal: 8.0/10
Immense in his duels, excellent with his passing, and helped maintain the team’s structure. He also played the pass that allowed Dani Olmo to score.
Pedri: 6.5/10
Not involved as much as usual, but the Spaniard did as well as he could. However, he was taken off at half-time with the team holding a comfortable lead.
Roony Bardghji: 6.5/10
Hardly involved in the game and barely saw much of the ball during his time on the field. Not a memorable performance, but one in which he did the things expected of him.
Dani Olmo: 8.0/10
Consistently found himself in promising areas and did well to navigate his way around the opposition. He also scored a great goal with a strong run and finish.
Raphinha: 9.5/10
Scored a hat-trick after confidently dispatching two penalties and then finding the back of the net a third time with a deflected finish. Beyond that, his involvement was intense, and he even dropped deep to help the team.
Robert Lewandowski: 6.5/10
Played a good pass that initiated Joao Cancelo’s run, which resulted in the Portuguese full-back scoring. However, aside from that, he was wasteful with his chances, and his pressing was lacklustre.
Substitutes:
Fermin Lopez: 7.5/10
Showcased great intensity and won the ball in several good areas. He also provided the assist for Raphinha’s third goal.
Marc Casado: 6.0/10
Did well to compete for the ball in midfield and remained solid.
Ronald Araujo: 6.0/10
A decent cameo from the Barcelona captain, although the team’s defensive structure looked slightly more open when he was on the pitch.
Lamine Yamal: 6.0/10
A quiet outing from the youngster, who mainly played it safe with the team already winning comfortably.
Gavi: N/A
Gavi is finally back after nearly seven months on the sidelines. He played only the final few minutes of the game. As he is returning from a long lay-off, his integration will be gradual.
